Set short term goals for your employees and keep them updated on their progress, and celebrate their success when they have reached their goals.  Short term goals should be measured every month or quarter.  Keep employees updated on the progress of their goals by sending regular emails or giving update reports in regular staff meetings.  The frequent communication about the goal reminds employees of what’s at stake and keeps the goal front of mind.Also, determine your reward ahead of time for meeting and exceeding the goal.  It doesn’t have to be expensive – pizza lunch, casual days, or even small on-the-spot recognition gifts.  When employees know the incentives beforehand they are more motivated to work towards their goals.
