International Housekeepers Week Idea Guide

Plan an activity that gives your housekeeping staff members the opportunity to show their creativity. Challenge them to build towers out of bars of soap. Announce that you are looking for height as well as attractiveness in shape. Once the towers are built, thank your housekeepers with “Housekeeping: Together We Shine” Photo/ Mirror Key Rings or Mini LED Flashlight Key Ring & Pen Gift Set.

Hold an election for your Housekeeper of the Year. Well in advance of September, ask for nominations from all staff members.  Once you have your list, restrict voting to the housekeeping staff. Present a “Housekeeping Angel On Duty” T-Shirt for the winner, with your congratulations.

Say “Viva Las Vegas!” this International Housekeepers Week. Decorate with playing cards, poker chips, and photos of major Vegas landmarks. Also, hire an Elvis impersonator or rent an Elvis costume so someone from your business can play the role. Have “Elvis” hand out “HousekeepingRocks” Lunch Bags and 3-Section Food Containers to your housekeepers while rock music by the real Elvis is playing.

Reward your housekeepers for doing their jobs thoroughly. Create fake money and call it “housekeeping bucks.” Hide these bills in rooms after guests have checked out; put them in places employees are supposed to be cleaning. Allow your housekeepers to trade the money

This year, expand your celebration. Sponsor a picnic for not only your hospitality team, but their families as well. Be prepared with games for adults and children. Put ice and bottled drinks in Hospitality Team Insulated Cooler Bags. During the event, hold drawings for prizes from the Hospitality Team Raffle Pack.

Recruit help in making International Housekeeping Week extra special. Ask five other departments to each be responsible for carrying out the celebration activities on one of the five event days. Request that they think of creative ways to honor your housekeepers. Supply them with recognition gifts to present.
